R & T Door Company is a solid wood door manufacturer located in the Mid-appalachian region of Virginia. Due to our location, we have the best hardwood in the world readily at hand. Wayne Lamb started his woodworking business in 1985. He learned to make furniture by trial and error, but continued to refine his talent over the next several years. He learned how to refinish furniture by same method and then went on to make kitchen cabinets by using a cabinet instruction book. He then bought a raised panel door machine to make kitchen cabinet doors. He also made laminate kitchen counter tops and did kitchen cabinet refacing for the past five years. This involves making new doors and putting veneer on the existing cabinets.
He found that doors were his first love. He made several solid wood entry doors for area churches. In november 2004 he started working on a business plan to start manufacturing solid wood doors. When Pocahontas Woods in Marlinton, WV, offered their "business incubator" service, he became involved with them as a place to grow his business. Please visit our photo album to see a door being made.
